A rooftop that ignores the south-easter
A beachfront-block rooftop with everything up top: plunge pool, timber deck, roof lawn, and the sea on the horizon. Also up top: salt on every breeze and wind with a running start.
White adjustable louvres cover the dining end, with a charcoal flat section beyond, all baked aluminium and stainless steel, so the salt gets no purchase. Blades open to the view, angle against the glare off the water, and lock closed when the south-easter means it.

Only if it is built for it, which is what we do here. Structures are braced and anchored for the West Coast wind, and closed adjustable louvres present far less to a gale than fabric, which tends to shred on the Blouberg beachfront.

Yes. Baked-aluminium sections and stainless fittings resist the salt that corrodes untreated metal within sight of the sea, so a Blouberg installation lasts rather than streaking and seizing.
How do I keep the Table Mountain view but get shade and wind cover?
